Jehan Daruvala (born 1 October 1998 in Mumbai, India) is an Indian racing driver who competes with Carlin in the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship.[1] A member of the Red Bull Junior Team, Daruvala arrived in F2 after finishing third in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2019.[1][2]

Background

Daruvala began karting at the fairly late age of thirteen in 2011, but would quickly emerge as a front runner in the categories he raced in.[3] In 2015 the Indian racer would fully commit to racing in Europe, taking part in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Alps and Eurocup Championships.[3] His maiden season saw him focus primarily on the NEC, finishing fifth with 194.5 points.[3]

F3 Foundation

Daruvala would open his 2016 campaign with a run to second in the Toyota Racing Series, before taking on the same FR 2.0 programmes that he had in 2015.[3] Finishing fourth in the NEC, Daruvala move into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for 2017, although he again ran in the TRS, claiming fifth.[3] Sixth at the end of the 2017 F3 Europe Championship earned Daruvala another season in the Championship for 2018.[3]

2018 saw Daruvala secure a second F3 win en-route to tenth in the Championship, while also getting a chance to run in the GP3 Series at the season finale.[3] The Indian racer duly signed up for the GP3 Series in 2019 as it transformed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, and would go on to finish third in the inaugural F3 Championship.[3] That earned him the attention of the Red Bull, who signed the Indian racer up to the Red Bull Junior Team in February 2020.[2]

Formula Two History

Daruvala was signed by Carlin ahead of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship, with the Indian racer partnered by fellow Red Bull Junior Team member Yuki Tsunoda.[1] He duly impressed at the 2020 Bahrain Test by setting the fastest lap on the second day of the test, although he and Tsunoda would be equally matched throughout.[4]
