Former Teams
Niko Kari (born 6 October 1999 in Hyvinkää, Finland) is a Finnish racing driver, who made his debut in the FIA Formula Two Championship during the 2018 season.[1] Making his debut with MP Motorsport towards the end of the 2018 campaign, Kari arrived in F2 from MP's GP3 Series team, replacing Ralph Boschung.[1]

Kari is a former member of the Red Bull Junior Team, and has previously won the SMP F4 Championship.[2] For 2016 Kari moved into the European Formula 3 Championship, taking a maiden victory en-route to tenth in the Championship standings.[2] Kari would also get his first taste of the GP3 Series during 2016, a move made at the behest of the Finn's sponsors after signing up to the Red Bull Junior Team.[2]

Kari would race in GP3 for both the 2017 and 2018 seasons, racing with Arden International and MP Motorsport respectively.[2] Kari would claim one win in his time in GP3, a result which ultimately saw Red Bull withdraw their support, before MP promoted the Finn to their F2 team in 2018.[3]

Background

Kari's career began in karting, racing until his sixteenth birthday prior to joining the SMP F4 Championship in 2015.[2] An excellent debut season saw Kari claim the title with seven victories,

Formula Two History

Kari was surprisingly called up to join MP Motorsport's Formula Two team during the 2018 season, signing up just before the 2018 Sochi Feature Race.[1] The Finn replaced Ralph Boschung in the team after the Swiss racer's poor run of form, with Kari set to partner Dorian Boccolacci for the remainder of the season.[1]
